I'm with you Dale - but as you know, rule number one of retail is "do whatever you can to keep the customer happy". So I am just in information gathering mode right now, For the record, I did set up an old Basso for this customer to ride L'Eroica last year - had a 46/32 TA Cyclotourist paired with 13-30 7 speed cassette. He felt the gearing was adequate. While he was there he picked up aforementioned Gios Torino frame with the idea of setting it up as a daily rider that he could also take to L'Eroica, as the Basso is getting pretty haggard. He was under the impression that modern gearing was OK as long as the shifters were on the downtube. I thought they were a bit more strict than that. I would hate to set up a bike for this guy only to have him refused entry at the start line.
